What Makes a Competition Website Worth Using
Whichever comping site you settle on, these are the things worth checking. They take about two minutes and they are the difference between a site that saves you time and one that wastes it.
- Free to enter, and only free to enter. A prize draw that charges an entry fee is a different thing to a free competition. Sites that blend the two make it your job to spot which is which.
- No premium-rate entry presented as the only route. Under UK rules, a competition offering a paid phone or text route must also offer a free one that is no less convenient. A good listing tells you what the free route is.
- Updated daily, with closing dates shown. The most common complaint about competition sites is expired listings. If a site won't show you a closing date, it is hiding how stale the list is.
- Curated by a person, not scraped. Automated scraping is how dead links, duplicate entries and paid raffles end up on a "free competitions" page.
- Entry requirements stated up front. Whether a competition needs a registration, a creative entry, or opts you into marketing changes whether it's worth your time. You should be able to see that before you click.
- Competition answers included where there's a question. Many UK prize draws ask a qualifying question. Being told the answer is on the listing saves a search per entry.
- No account required to browse. A website should be honest and accessible with their listings.

How Our Listings Are Put Together
The honest version, so you can weigh it against any other competition site:
- Sources are checked daily. New competitions are added the day they're found, and each one is read before it goes up - not pulled in automatically from a feed.
- Paid entries don't get listed. If the only way in is a fee, a premium-rate number or a raffle ticket, it isn't listed here. Where a competition has both paid and free routes - most TV prize draws do - the listing shows the free route.
- Expired competitions come off on their own. Listings drop off the site the day after they close, which is why you won't find a closed draw sitting at the top of a category.
- Entry requirements are labelled. Registration, creative entries and marketing opt-ins are flagged on the listing, and you can filter them out entirely if you'd rather not see them.
- Anyone can submit one. Found a good free competition? Submit it and it'll be checked before publishing.
